Zones at P-MEC 2010
The demand from visitors for enhanced product profiles sees the introduction of the Analytical Zone and the Track and Trace Zone at P-MEC 2010.
The Analytical Zone at P-MEC 2010
The pharmaceutical analytical-testing sector has experienced significant change over the past few years, largely as a result of global contamination and economically motivated adulteration. Industry and regulators have moved quickly to update standards, guidelines, and monographs to help prevent future drug-product safety breaches.
P-MEC has evolved in line with industry demand to include instrumental analysis, measuring and testing technology, materials testing, quality control and laboratory equipment, as well as the traditional, large-scale capital equipment for which P-MEC is well known. The growing interest seen in the pharmaceutical technology space is reflected in the fact that in just three years, P-MEC Europe has experienced 62% growth. For 2010, this evolution continues.

The Track and Trace Zone at P-MEC 2010
The P-MEC Europe event has evolved its focus on equipment and machinery to include pharmaceutical packaging technology, and, with RFID technologies playing an increasingly important role in supply chain integrity and logistics efficiency, will feature a dedicated ‘track & trace’ zone.
Concern about the integrity of the pharmaceutical supply chain, counterfeiting issues and the need for better inventory management are just a few reasons why the US FDA considers RFID to be a key enabling technology for data collection, in order to track and trace products and create 'e-pedigree' records. According to the Companies and Markets Report (RFID: Scope, Viability and Company Analysis -Mind Commerce LLC), the global market for RFID products and service in the pharma industry will be worth €631m by the year 2015. Reflecting this market outlook, P-MEC Europe is introducing a dedicated pharmaceutical Track and Trace Zone at its 2010 event to highlight technologies that share the common purpose of identifying, tracking, recording, sorting and communicating essential product data, and highlight different solutions to traceability problems, including 2D barcodes, mobile barcodes, NFC and RFID. In addition to the Track and Trace Zone, P-MEC Europe 2010 will also introduce an Analytical Zone, which will feature high-end analytical instrumentation, software and consumables for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, plus laboratory technology for biotech and the life science markets. The new zoned format is designed to make it easier for visitors to find the exhibitors they’re looking for, giving more logical on-site navigation and allowing visitors to benefit from ‘more talking, less walking’ time.
